Dalston Deli London: What To Expect

Dalston Deli

I was invited to review Dalston Deli, and my food was complimentary. I was not paid to visit and was not under a contractual obligation to write this blog post or create content on any platform.

Ooooh boy, do I have to tell everyone about one of my new favourite food experiences? The kind folks at Dalston Deli invited me to their popup, a two-week digital takeaway shop hosted at The Co-Kitchens, a cloud kitchen where the focus is mainly on takeaway. However, they have three tables for those who want to eat on-site.

What are the Co-Kitchens?

The Co-Kitchens (the-kitchens.com), which recently launched in bustling Dalston in East London, is a shared kitchen concept aimed at securing existing independent food businesses a slice of high street real estate at a fraction of the usual cost. The space, which currently houses eight food brands that operate from cloud stations and a front-of-house that allows customers to collect takeaways from automated lockers, The Co-Kitchens is a self-ordering and pickup point. Customers can place their orders via the kiosks or pre-order on the web for their preferred time and collect from the lockers using the QR code when the order is ready.

I invited her to sample the delights because I hadn’t chatted with my baby sister for a while. As a foodie in the making, she was game to take the commute up to Dalston with me.

After a long drive that included many wrong turns, wonderful conversation, and a never-ending search for parking, we finally arrived at The Co-Kitchens on Kingsland Road in Dalston.

When you enter The Co-Kitchens, you are greeted by a wall of lockers, which reminds me of the pod hotels in Japan.
As we had pre-ordered our food, we had to scan a barcode that had previously been sent to my phone, and voila, one of the lockers opened with our food. This is perfect when you are on a cheeky lunch break and need to get your food and get off to enjoy it.

What was Dalston Deli like?

With a focus on focus quality and flavour, everything Dalston Deli is made in–home–house—from their baked focaccia bread to their signature croquettes, sauces and coleslaws. All the meats served are slow-slow-cookhouse to ensure every bite is delicious.

Dalston Deli are only able to produce 50 focaccia sandwiches per day due to the care and effort which goes into each sandwich, which people can pre-order via their website (Link below)

The website menu was specially curated and extensive and had detailed, accurate photos of each of the 9 mouth-watering sandwich dishes. You’ll find many favourites on offer, such as gammon, fish fingers, and slow-cooked pork. Overwhelmed by the selection, I eventually chose the Proper Ham sandwich, which consisted of slow-poached gammon, rocket, and parsley salad with Dijon mustard.

Baby sis went for the Slow-cooked Beef, a 24-hour slow-cooked beef shin, celeriac remoulade, house pickled onion, and signature dele sauce. Yum!

We decided to share the garlic croquette and burnt cabbage slaw for the sides.

We took advantage of the outside seating and dived into our meals, enjoying the homemade lemonade that came with them.

The portions were generous, and I am sure I will have dreams about the gammon for weeks to come. The focaccia bread definatly upgraded my sandwich-eating experience, leaving me feeling full and satisfied.

My only wish was to be in a park nearby to enjoy our food while surrounded by nature.
Popups popup is a limited-time opportunity, running until September 11th. While they test their recipes, which they spent a year developing, they gather feedback, and, based on the response, Dalston Deli will hopefully be back for another round.

People can pre-order via https://order.kurvekiosks.com/dalstondeli.
