Living with Lupus is about so much more than managing joint pain and fatigue. As I often share throughout my Living Well With Lupus series, every day can bring different challenges, and sometimes it’s the symptoms people talk about the least that have the biggest impact on your quality of life.
For me, nausea is one of those symptoms.
Whether it’s linked to medication, a migraine, anxiety before an important event or simply a long journey, feeling constantly queasy can make an already difficult day even more exhausting. It’s one of the reasons I was interested when Sea-Band offered me the opportunity to try their acupressure wristbands.
Rather than adding another tablet to an already full medication routine, I was interested in trying something simple, reusable and drug-free that could potentially help with nausea.
Why Nausea Can Be Part Of Living With Lupus
Lupus affects everyone differently, which is one reason it can be such a difficult condition to understand and explain. While fatigue, joint pain and skin symptoms are often the most recognised, nausea can also be experienced.
For some people, nausea may be linked to medication side effects. Others may experience it alongside migraines, anxiety or during periods when they are generally feeling unwell. Travelling to hospital appointments, flying, or even long car journeys can also make nausea more difficult to manage.
Although nausea isn’t always talked about as one of the defining symptoms of Lupus, it can be another frustrating thing to deal with alongside everything else.
If you’re experiencing persistent or worsening nausea, it’s always worth speaking to your healthcare team. While products such as Sea-Band may be useful for some people, they shouldn’t replace professional medical advice or prescribed treatment.

What Are Sea-Band Acupressure Wristbands?
Sea-Band is a reusable acupressure wristband designed to provide drug-free relief from nausea.
Each elastic wristband contains a small pressure stud. The band is positioned so that the stud sits over the P6 (Nei-Kuan) acupressure point on the inner wrist.
The important thing when putting the bands on is getting the positioning right. The pressure stud should sit on the inside of the wrist rather than the outside.
Sea-Band wristbands can be used for a number of different types of nausea, including:
- Travel sickness
- Pregnancy sickness
- Migraine-related nausea
- Post-operative nausea
- Chemotherapy-related nausea
- Anxiety-related nausea
One of the things I particularly like about the concept is that the wristbands don’t require taking any additional medication. They’re reusable, lightweight and easy to carry, making them a practical option to have with you when travelling or going about your everyday life.
Why Sea-Band Caught My Attention
Living with Lupus often means carrying more than most people realise.
Alongside medication, I already think about pacing myself, managing fatigue, protecting my joints and planning travel around my energy levels. If a simple product can help reduce one small part of that mental load, it’s worth exploring.
Whether I’m travelling to a hospital appointment or planning my next holiday, I’m always looking for products that help me travel more comfortably. That’s something I explore in both my Travelling With Lupus guide and my Travel Wellness hub.
What appealed to me about Sea-Band was its simplicity.
There’s no charging, no complicated routine and nothing to swallow. You simply put the bands on your wrists and make sure the pressure studs are positioned correctly over the P6 points on the inside of your wrists.
Sometimes it’s these small, practical things that can make everyday life feel that little bit easier.

Where I Think Sea-Band Could Be Most Helpful
Although I’m still figuring out how Sea-Band fits into my routine, I can already identify several situations where I would be interested in using it.
Travelling
This is probably one of the first situations that comes to mind.
Whether I’m heading to a hospital appointment, catching a flight, or setting off on another adventure, having a lightweight, reusable option for nausea is appealing.
Travel can already take a lot of planning when you’re living with a chronic illness, so anything simple enough to keep in my handbag is a bonus.
Migraine Days
Migraines and nausea can sometimes go hand in hand, so I’m also interested in seeing how I find the wristbands on days when I’m dealing with migraine-related nausea.
Of course, everyone’s experience is different, and what works for one person may not work for another.
Everyday Life
Then there are those unexpected days when you simply feel unsettled or nauseous.
Living with Lupus often means preparing for the unexpected, so having an easy, portable option available could be reassuring.

What I Like About Sea-Band
After learning more about Sea-Band and trying it for myself, several things stand out.
It’s:
- Drug-free
- Reusable
- Lightweight
- Discreet
- Easy to carry
- Simple to use
And at £6.86, it’s also a relatively affordable option if you’re looking to try something without committing to an ongoing cost.
I also like that it doesn’t require expensive refills or subscriptions.
For anyone already taking multiple medications, having a non-medicinal option to consider is another positive.
And unless someone looks closely, the wristbands are fairly discreet when you’re wearing them.
Is Sea-Band A Treatment For Lupus?
No.
Sea-Band isn’t a treatment or cure for Lupus, and it won’t stop a Lupus flare or replace medical treatment.
For me, the appeal is much simpler than that.
Living with Lupus is often about finding practical ways to manage the individual symptoms and challenges that can affect everyday life. If nausea is something you experience, whether that’s connected to travel, migraines, medication or another cause, a drug-free option such as Sea-Band may be something you want to explore alongside your usual care.
I’m interested in seeing how it fits into my own routine over time, particularly when travelling, attending events or dealing with difficult days.
One of the biggest lessons Lupus has taught me is that there isn’t one product that suddenly makes everything easier.
Instead, it’s often the collection of small things that work together to improve day-to-day life.
That’s how I’m looking at Sea-Band.
It’s practical, reusable, lightweight and easy to incorporate into an existing routine. While it won’t treat Lupus itself, it may be a useful option for people who experience nausea and are looking for a drug-free approach to try.
If you’re living with Lupus and looking for additional ways to manage nausea alongside your usual medical care, Sea-Band could be worth exploring.
