‘What’s In My Chemotherapy Bag’ I have just been booked for my next round of Chemotherapy to try and manage my lupus or even fingers crosse and push it on to remission so I can get some rest bite from these lupus flares.
This is my 2nd round of chemo, but I have had previous treatments such as Rituximub Cyclophosphamide, to name a few.
My treatments have involved me being stuck on a drip for most of the day with varying side effects. No matter how many treatments I have had, I will probably still feel anxious and scared in the days leading up to the treatment and during.
One of the ways I cope with these feelings is to distract myself by doing productive by collating items for my chemo bag. Let’s call it a treatment bag. That sounds nicer.
What is a Treatment/Chemotherapy Bag?
A chemo/treatment bag is a bag that contains everything I need to keep me entertained and comfortable during my chemo sessions and also doubles up as my hospital bag.
I purchase items solely from the bag and only touch them if it is precisely for chemotherapy appointments or if I have to go to A&E, so I always have what I need in the above two scenarios.
As I have a couple of weeks before my first appointment, I thought I would upgrade some of the items in my bag as a treat plus, it is an excellent opportunity to share with you guys what I pack in the bag in case anybody out there is looking for ideas of what to pack.
Notebook and Pen
To make notes of any instructions I am given after the treatment or any medications I need to take.
Bag

Usually, I would take a backpack which is pretty handy because it fits everything; however, I have since seen this travel tote which is not only cute but has many pockets, so I can keep all my bits and bobs organised and stuff won’t be rattling around at the bottom of the bag. It is also waterproof and can expand to accommodate more items.

Blanket

Ok, I don’t pack a blanket; I pack a snuggly. Before you look at me crazy, let me explain. For some reason, they keep the wards quite cold, and I don’t do hard; however, I want to be able to use my laptop and all my gadgets while at the same time staying comfy and warm under my blanket. Not a problem. My blanket has sleeves.
You are welcome, everyone; run, don’t walk and get yourself one. You won’t be disappointed.
Yes, the hospital can give you a blanket but no offence to them to find they smell a bit funny, and having my blanket/Slanket makes me comfortable

Sliders

Normally I would wear my Crocs or pack a pair of slippers, but I saw these shark sliders and decided to treat myself; they may even make some other patients smile on the day.

I like to distract myself from my surroundings by working or writing blogs, so this laptop table is handy as it holds my iPad and a cup holder. It is also super light.
Charger

Extension Lead

Unfortunately, plug sockets in hospitals are not always in the most convenient places, so I always bring an Extension Lead with me, and this baby also has 3 USB slots

One of my pet peeves is lukewarm tea, but that won’t be a problem with this Insulated Cup with Straw, Lid and Handle, and not only does it keep the cold drinks hot, but it keeps the cold drinks cold.
Laptop

Of course, for working, writing blog pots or general internet surfing.
Ipad
Loaded with the latest binge-worthy tv series and movies, most hospitals have free wifi, so I also binge random youtube videos.
Earphones
Sorry ear pods

Snacks
on treatment day I like to treat myself to Marks and Spencer watermelon (I don’t know why it is the best.
It just is) A big bag of Cheetos.
Whatever meal deal takes my fancy
Magazines
The perfect excuse to catch up with Vogue and Grazia
chargers
I usually sleep through a good part of the chemo because they pump me full of Benadryl, but the above stuff I pack in my bag is enough to keep me occupied.
I hope this helped you guys if you were looking for ideas of things to take.
If you have any interesting things you take with you or any questions, leave them in the comments below.
Also, my Sky jump has been rebooked for the 17th of September, and it would mean the world to me if you would donate as all proceeds will go to LUPUS UK
