In 2024, Marc Jacobs unveiled the exclusive Bark Jacobs initiative, a month-long celebration of personalised luxury. Unfortunately, by the time I found out, it was too late to get involved, but I swore I would not miss out in 2025.
What Is Barc Jacobs
This unique opportunity allowed customers to adorn their leather goods with exquisite hand-painted pet portraits. The campaign, a rare treat that graced the month of April, was a special offer for purchases of the brand’s Tote Bag and Dual Bag, among other select leather items. Exclusive locations were adorned with window displays featuring customised bags, branded dog toys, complimentary treats, and sculptural dog figurines, creating an atmosphere of luxury and exclusivity.
As the news of Marc Jacobs’ Bark Jacobs initiative resurfaced, I found myself eagerly anticipating the chance to participate once more. The thought of having Sassy-Love’s portrait on a large leather Marc Jacobs tote, a dream I had been nurturing for two years, filled me with a sense of thrill and excitement. The recent release of the Wolf Grey colour only added to my anticipation, as it perfectly matched my style.
The Barc Jacobs initiative builds upon previous pet-portrait promotions held in London, where artists painted customer-submitted pet photos onto bags. Participation required purchasing eligible leather goods, with portraits typically completed during in-store appointments. However, as Sassy-Love was having her lady time (plus, I don’t think she would have sat still), So I carefully selected a photo that captured her unique personality and features and sent it in.

I was very impressed with how the Scottish illustrator, currently living in London, Willa Gebbie, captured Sassy-Love’s personality on the bag, which was hand-painted in-store from a photograph in 30 minutes using Angelus leather paint.
Barc Jacob Meets Sassy-Love
I opted to have Sassy-Love’s picture on the back of the so I wouldn’t constantly be walking around looking like “I love my dog”, even though I kind of do.
My Sassy-Love Barc Jacobs Tote Bag is not just a bag, but a source of pure joy and satisfaction. The way the artist captured Sassy-Love’s essence on the bag is truly remarkable. I am ecstatic with the result, and it brings a smile to my face every time I use it, fostering a deep emotional connection with the product.
